You’re inside Wicca Made Simple: Witch School.
Head back to Month 1: Reclaiming the Witch Within to continue your journey.
Ritual: “I Am the Witch” – A Self-Dedication Ceremony
This simple yet powerful ritual marks the beginning of your journey. It is a sacred moment where you claim your path—not to anyone else, but to yourself and the Divine. Whether whispered in the woods or spoken before candlelight, this is your declaration:
I have arrived.
This is not an initiation into a specific tradition. It is a self-dedication—a personal rite of passage where you say yes to the witch within you.
Before You Begin
Choose your space
You can perform this ritual:
- At your altar, lit with candles and meaningful objects
- Outdoors, under the moon, beside a tree, or wherever nature feels alive to you
Gather your tools (all are optional—follow your intuition):
- A candle (white or any color that speaks to you)
- A journal and pen
- A small bowl of water and a pinch of salt
- A symbol of your path (a stone, herb, necklace, or talisman)
Create sacred space
Cleanse your space and yourself—physically and energetically. You can smudge, ring a bell, or simply breathe deeply and center yourself. Cast a circle if you feel called.
The Ceremony
Light your candle.
As you do, say:
“I light this flame to honor the spark within me—
The wild, wise, sacred self now waking.
I step onto the path with open eyes,
With a steady heart and a willing soul.”
Bless your hands.
Dip your fingers into the saltwater. Touch your forehead, then your heart.
“With earth and water, I bless myself.
May I walk with strength, softness, and truth.”
Hold your symbol.
Close your eyes. Feel the energy of your path gathering around you. Feel the Earth beneath, the wind above, the fire before you, the water beside you.
Then, speak aloud:
“I am the witch.
I walk between the worlds.
I honor the Earth, the Moon, the stars, and the Divine in all things.
I am a seeker of wisdom, a speaker of truth, a weaver of energy.
I claim my magic. I trust my path. I am awake. I am ready.”
Optional Vow (adapt as needed):
“I vow to walk in alignment with love,
To harm none and to honor life.
To listen to the voice within,
And to follow the rhythm of the Earth and Sky.
This I vow, with joy and reverence.”
Close the ritual.
Blow out the candle or let it burn safely. Thank the elements, spirits, or guides if you called them. Gently release the space.
After the Ritual – Journal Reflection
Take time to sit quietly and write about your experience. Consider the following prompts:
- How did it feel to speak the words “I am the witch”?
- What emotions or sensations arose during the ritual?
- What do I dedicate myself to in this next chapter of my life?
- What support, practices, or intentions will help me stay aligned?
This ritual is just the beginning. You may choose to repeat it every year, at each Sabbat, or anytime you need to reconnect with your truth.
Welcome to the path. You are no longer becoming—you are.
Community Blessing & Optional Group Ritual
You are not alone. We are lighting the path together.
Although this journey begins within, you are now part of something much bigger: a living, growing circle of witches around the world—each on their own path, each bringing their own light, wisdom, and magic into the world.
This ritual is optional, but powerful. It can be done during your “I Am the Witch” Self-Dedication Ritual, or anytime you want to feel connected to the global Wiccan and witchcraft community.
Global Circle Visualization
When you light your candle, speak these words:
“As I light this flame, I join a sacred circle.
Somewhere, someone else is lighting theirs too.
In cities and forests, kitchens and sacred groves,
Witches rise. Witches remember. Witches awaken.”
“Though I may stand alone, I am never truly alone.
We are many, walking together across time and distance—
Bound by earth, by spirit, by the rhythm of the stars.”
Pause for a moment.
Feel the presence of others—new witches, seasoned witches, curious souls—standing with you in silence. Their candles flicker beside yours in your mind’s eye. Let that vision strengthen your heart.
Then say:
“I take my place in the circle.
I am seen. I am supported. I am home.”
Community Blessing
To every witch reading this: May you be held in love.
May your path be blessed with clarity, courage, and connection.
May you know—deep in your bones—that you belong.
You are the witch. You are the circle. You are the light.
