Lesson 14: Guided Meditation

Bathing in Lunar Light

Purpose

To journey through the complete lunar cycle in meditation, experiencing the rhythms of beginning, growth, fullness, release, rest, and renewal before returning to the New Moon with deeper wisdom.

Before You Begin

Find a quiet place where you can sit or lie comfortably without being disturbed.

You may wish to dim the lights, light a candle, or sit somewhere you can see the night sky, but nothing special is required.

There is nothing you need to accomplish during this meditation.

You do not need to receive a message.

You do not need to see every image clearly.

You do not need to make anything happen.

Simply allow yourself to follow the journey as it unfolds.

When you are ready, close your eyes.

Take a slow breath in.

And let it go.

Take another breath.

Feel your body beginning to settle.

Let your shoulders soften.

Relax your hands.

Unclench your jaw.

Allow your breathing to find its own comfortable rhythm.

For the next little while, there is nowhere else you need to be.

Nothing you need to solve.

Nothing you need to become.

You are simply here.

Entering the Night

Imagine that you are standing outside beneath a dark night sky.

The air is comfortable against your skin.

The world around you is quiet.

Perhaps you hear leaves moving gently in the breeze.

Perhaps distant water.

Perhaps insects calling in the darkness.

Perhaps nothing at all.

Above you, the sky stretches wide and deep.

There are stars overhead.

But there is no Moon.

You have arrived beneath the New Moon.

The Moon is there, even though you cannot see her.

Hidden does not mean absent.

Darkness does not mean nothing is happening.

Stand quietly beneath that dark sky.

Feel the stillness around you.

This is the place before becoming.

Before the first visible sign.

Before anyone else can see what is beginning.

Ask yourself gently:

What is beginning in me?

Do not search for an answer.

If something comes, receive it.

If nothing comes, remain in the darkness.

Take a breath.

And imagine placing one small intention into the dark earth beneath your feet.

Not a demand.

Not a promise.

A seed.

Something that may grow.

When you are ready, begin walking.

The First Light

As you move along the path, time begins to pass.

Night follows night.

And one evening, you look toward the sky and see it.

A slender crescent.

The first visible light of the Waxing Moon.

Pause and look at her.

Something that was hidden has begun to appear.

The seed beneath the soil has not become a flower overnight.

It is simply growing.

Let the crescent light touch your face.

Your shoulders.

Your hands.

Imagine that this light carries the energy of possibility.

Curiosity.

Hope.

Movement.

You do not need to know exactly where the path leads.

You need only enough light for the next few steps.

Ask:

What wants my attention so that it can grow?

Pause.

Then ask:

What small thing can I do to nurture it?

Let whatever answer comes be enough.

And continue walking.

Taking Action

The Moon grows brighter.

The thin crescent becomes the First Quarter Moon.

Half light.

Half darkness.

You arrive at a place where the path becomes steeper.

Perhaps there are stones beneath your feet.

Perhaps a fallen branch crosses the way.

Perhaps the path simply asks more effort from you now.

This is no longer only the energy of wishing or beginning.

Something is being asked of you.

Feel the Moonlight above.

Steady.

Clear.

And ask:

What step do I already know I need to take?

Notice what arises.

Perhaps the answer is large.

Perhaps very small.

You do not need to take every step tonight.

Only recognize the next one.

Imagine yourself stepping over the obstacle.

Then another step.

And another.

Feel the strength of moving rather than waiting.

Continue along the path.

Refining the Path

The Moon grows fuller.

You enter the light of the Waxing Gibbous Moon.

There is enough illumination now to see farther ahead.

And with greater visibility comes greater understanding.

Perhaps something needs adjustment.

Perhaps what you began is growing differently than you expected.

Perhaps part of your plan no longer fits.

Stop for a moment.

Look back at the path behind you.

Then look ahead.

Ask:

What is working?

Pause.

What needs adjustment?

Pause again.

Remember that changing your approach does not mean you have failed.

Growth often requires refinement.

You are allowed to learn as you go.

Make whatever small adjustment your journey requires.

Then continue.

Bathing in Lunar Light

Eventually, the path opens into a wide clearing.

Above you rises the Full Moon.

Bright.

Round.

Complete.

Moonlight pours across the landscape.

The trees.

The earth.

The path behind you.

Your own body.

Stand beneath her.

You do not need to do anything.

Simply allow yourself to be illuminated.

Imagine the silver-white light touching the crown of your head.

Flowing across your face.

Your throat.

Your shoulders.

Down your arms and into your hands.

Across your chest.

Your heart.

Your belly.

Your legs.

All the way to your feet.

You are bathing in lunar light.

Breathe.

Let yourself experience fullness without immediately wondering what comes next.

Look at what has grown.

Look at what you have done.

Look at what you understand now that you could not see beneath the New Moon.

Ask:

What deserves to be acknowledged?

Pause.

What deserves gratitude?

Pause again.

And finally:

What can I see clearly now?

You do not need to judge what the light reveals.

Simply see it.

Stay beneath the Full Moon for as long as you wish.

Receive the light.

Then, when you are ready, continue.

Gathering Wisdom

The Moon begins to wane.

Her light is still strong, but the cycle has turned.

You are beneath the Waning Gibbous Moon.

This is not yet the time to discard everything and rush toward an ending.

First, gather what the experience has given you.

Imagine carrying a small basket as you walk.

Into it, place what you want to remember.

A lesson.

A moment.

A success.

A mistake that taught you something.

A kindness.

A realization.

A reason for gratitude.

You do not have to name everything.

Simply allow the basket to hold the wisdom of the journey.

Ask:

What do I want to carry forward?

Let the answer settle into your basket.

Continue walking.

Releasing

The Moon becomes half light again.

But this time, the darkness is growing.

You have reached the Last Quarter Moon.

Ahead, the path narrows.

You cannot carry everything through.

Look at what you have been holding.

Not the wisdom in your basket.

The other things.

Expectations.

Old fears.

Habits.

Plans that no longer fit.

Responsibilities that were never yours.

Stories about who you are supposed to be.

Perhaps something specific comes to mind.

Perhaps it does not.

Ask:

What has finished its work in my life?

Pause.

Then:

What am I ready to stop carrying?

Imagine setting something down beside the path.

You do not have to destroy it.

You do not have to hate it.

You do not have to prove that releasing it was the correct choice.

Simply put it down.

Notice what your body feels like without its weight.

Take another step.

Returning to Stillness

The Moon becomes a thin crescent once more.

The Waning Crescent hangs quietly above you.

The path is easy now.

There is nowhere you need to hurry.

You find a peaceful place to rest.

Perhaps beneath a tree.

Beside water.

On a soft patch of earth.

Sit down.

Your basket of wisdom rests beside you.

You do not need to sort through it yet.

You do not need to plant another seed.

You do not need to decide what happens next.

Rest.

Feel the quiet.

Breathe.

Let yourself experience the sacredness of doing nothing.

Ask:

What would happen if I trusted myself enough to rest?

Then allow the question to disappear.

No answer is required.

Stay here for a little while.

Darkness Again

Eventually, the final crescent disappears.

You look upward.

The sky is dark once more.

You have returned to the New Moon.

But this is not the same darkness in which you began.

And you are not exactly the same person who stood beneath it before.

You have begun.

You have grown.

You have acted.

You have adjusted.

You have stood in fullness.

You have gathered wisdom.

You have released.

You have rested.

And now you have returned.

Notice the basket beside you.

You did not come back empty-handed.

You carry experience.

Wisdom.

Memory.

Perhaps greater trust in yourself.

Perhaps simply greater awareness.

Place your hands over your heart if that feels comfortable.

And ask:

What do I know now that I did not know when I began?

Wait.

Whatever comes is enough.

Even silence.

The Cycle Continues

Above you, imagine the entire lunar cycle appearing gently across the night sky.

Darkness.

Crescent.

Quarter.

Gibbous.

Fullness.

Gibbous.

Quarter.

Crescent.

Darkness again.

Not a straight line.

A cycle.

There is no phase you are supposed to remain in forever.

You do not have to be constantly growing.

Constantly producing.

Constantly shining.

Constantly releasing.

Even the Moon does not ask that of herself.

There is a time for each.

And then the cycle turns again.

Take a slow breath.

Feel the earth beneath you.

Feel your body where you are sitting or lying.

Remember the room around you.

Before you leave the moonlit path, look toward the dark sky one last time.

And silently, or aloud, say:

I honor what begins.

I nurture what grows.

I act when action is needed.

I welcome what becomes clear.

I give thanks for what has been.

I release what is complete.

I rest when rest is needed.

And when the time comes, I begin again.

Take another breath.

And another.

Begin moving your fingers.

Your toes.

Roll your shoulders gently if that feels good.

And when you are ready, open your eyes.

After the Meditation

Give yourself a few quiet moments before returning to your day.

You may wish to write about what you experienced, but you do not have to analyze it.

If you would like to record something, begin with only these questions:

What part of the lunar journey affected me most strongly?

Where did I feel resistance?

What did I want to remain with longer?

Was there an image, word, feeling, or message I want to remember?

What did I carry back from the journey?

Then close your journal.

Month 6 does not need another conclusion.

You have already reflected.

You have already chosen what you will carry forward.

You have already received your blessing.

For now, simply remember:

You began beneath a dark Moon.

You traveled through her light.

You released what you no longer needed.

You rested.

And you returned to darkness carrying wisdom you did not have before.

The cycle is complete.

And somewhere beyond that darkness, unseen for now,

the first crescent is already waiting.

Bathing in Lunar Light — Meditation Printables

These final Month 6 printables accompany Bathing in Lunar Light, your guided journey through an entire lunar cycle—from the darkness of the New Moon, through growth and fullness, into release and rest, and finally back to darkness again.

They are not another assignment to complete. They are simply a way to prepare for the meditation, capture what remains afterward, and mark the completion of your journey through Month 6.

How to Use These Printables

Before beginning the meditation, look over Journey Through the Lunar Cycle. Familiarize yourself with the eight stages of the journey and their questions, but don’t try to memorize them. Then set the page aside and allow the meditation to unfold naturally.

Afterward, use What I Carried Back to record whatever remains with you. An image, feeling, phrase, moment of resistance, or unexpected realization is enough. You do not need to interpret everything you experienced. Some meanings become clearer only with time.

Finally, place Begin Again in your Book of Shadows as the closing page of Month 6. There is nothing to fill in and nothing more you need to accomplish. Let it simply mark the end of this part of your Year and a Day.

You have followed the Moon through darkness, growth, fullness, release, and rest—and returned to where you began with experience you did not have before.

Rest here. Then begin again.
